Jen Julien

Jen is the co-owner, with her husband Jon, of 9 companies responsible for developing, owning and operating new businesses in the real estate, hospitality, construction, manufacturing, and service industry.

​Based in Houghton, MI, the Julien’s own and operate businesses in downtown Houghton including The Vault Hotel and The Counting Room cocktail lounge in the historic Houghton National Bank Building, The Hampton Inn & Suites and the Observatory Lounge, Citrus Salon as well as Braveworks, LJJ Construction, The Elements, and Julien Properties. Jen and Jon are currently expanding The Vault Hotel brand in the historic Savings Bank Building in Marquette, MI. Through a vision for restoration of historic buildings and a strive for excellence in hospitality, The Vault Hotel in Houghton recently made the Conde Nast Travelers Reader’s Choice awards Top 15 Hotels in the Midwest list at #9.

Jen received a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Michigan Technological University. She was a professional snowmobile racer for Polaris for many years while at Michigan Tech and took a job in the engineering field upon graduation. Jen left her engineering career to pursue opportunities in real estate with her husband – ultimately finding a passion for the hospitality industry. She is the proud mother of two daughters, ages 5 and 7, and enjoys spending time with them playing music, surfing, skateboarding, and traveling as a family
